In July 2016 the last ‘new’ VCR was manufactured in Japan. The true end of a decades long era and film culture , now sealed inside an obsolete form. Our technological triumphs and world-unifying formats rise and fall and get disposed, burying memory within their plastic pieces. The reign of the VHS tape shaped a generation’s consumption of culture and collective experience, binding us in a shared pop language culture.
